This interactive workshop is designed to help parents and educators understand and define truancy as outlined by the Maryland State Compulsory Attendance Policy. Participants will explore the wide range of factors that contribute to chronic absenteeism including home environment, school climate, and personal challenges. Attendees will gain insight into how ongoing absenteeism can impact a child’s academic performance, emotional well-being, and social development. The session also highlights how frequent absences affect broader school and community resources. To support change, this workshop provides evidence-based strategies and community resource information that can help reduce absenteeism and promote student success.
